Garanti Supports Basketball

Like basketball, Garanti's corporation culture rests on teamwork, trust and discipline.

We have renewed out support of the National A Team for another three years in the belief that success requires long-term support and effort.

Garanti acted as the Official Sponsor of the Basketball National A Team in
32nd European Basketball Championship. This continued in World Basketball Championships in Indianapolis and the European Men's Basketball Championships held in Norway on September 5-14, 2003.

The slogan "12 Giant Men" now belongs to society and basketball. The campaign we ran for the World Championship emphasized the concept of "We all are 12 Giant Man", cheering our national team with 12 Giant Men masks.

Sponsorship of 12 Giant Men Basketball Schools

Our contribution to basketball is not limited to official sponsorship. We are also supporting a project initiated by the Turkish Basketball Federation to create 12 Giant Men of the future and champion basketball teams. In order to spread love of the sport throughout Turkey and push the barrier to success even higher, we assumed sponsorship of 12 Giant Men Basketball Schools in 22 provinces and Northern Cyprus.

A training program for Anatolian provinces of the Turkish Basketball Federation reached 2700 students under the supervision of 125 coaches during the June 24-September 6, 2002 summer session. The winter session program that began October 19th aims to raise the number of students to 3500 by adding four more provinces.

Small Giant Men play at Kusadasi Tournament

The year-end 12 Giant Men Basketball Schools Tournament was held May 16-19 in Kusadasi, marking the end of the 2002-2003 winter session. The cooperative project of Garanti Bank and the Turkish Basketball Federation has coached 2700 young players to date. Coaches from 12 provinces joined the tournament with 180 young players.

Small Giant Men meet in Istanbul

The Small Giant Men Semiannual Basketball Tournament organized by Garanti Bank and the Turkish Basketball Federation was held on February 6-7-8, 2003 at Abdi Ipekci Sports Hall in Istanbul. Sixteen coaches and 104 players from 22 provinces and Northern Cyprus participated in the tournament.

Basketball without Borders Camp

Garanti became one of the sponsors of "Basketball without Borders" camp started by the joint effort of the NBA and United Nations in the believing that sports is one of the best paths to friendship and peace. Turkish basketball stars joined the camp, which brought together 48 young athletes from Turkey and Greece, as coaches.
