- In 1999, Dogus Group decided to form a new company with
focus on payment systems
- Today, total number of credit cards reached 2.8 million
and number of merchant network exceeded 48 thousand
- Bonuscard was selected the biggest in Europe in "co-branding"
cards
- Garanti is among the 10 leading banks in Europe in MasterCard
business
- First strategic alliance in credit cards in Turkey; Denizbank
will print its credit cards using BonusCard brand as of April
2003
- With the rapid growth in 2002, Garanti surpassed its closest
follower
(İşbank) by 4% and became the second leading bank in the number
of cards issued
- Garanti ranked first with 32.5% market share in international
credit card expenditures in 2003 Q1
- Garanti kept its #1 place in the last 5 years in international
merchant turnover
- Garanti reached 26,850 in commercial cards with 66% growth
rate and strengthened its leading position in the market.
It also introduced "Partner Card" to be used instead
of cheques in retailer-wholesaler transactions
- The number of credit cards sold in branches increased by
44% to 305,000 compared to last year.
The target in 2003 is to sell 308,000 credit cards from
branches.

Bonus
Card
BonusCard is the first multi-branded chip-based credit card
in Turkey. It was launched in 2000. The card was an instant
hit because of its flexibility, allowing consumers to earn
and redeem points with lots of retailers. Cardholders earn
BONUSes (1 BONUS=1 Turkish Lira) between 1-15% with every
purchase and can spend the BONUSes at Program Partners. Competitors
have introduced copycat cards after 2001.

Shop&Miles
Card
In 2000, Garanti introduced the first official air mile program
in Turkey with an exclusive agreement signed with Turkish
Airlines. Shop & miles is co-branded Visa card of GarantiBank with Turkish Airlines. It is designed for upscale customers.
Cardholders earn 2 miles for each 1 YTL and they earn
"extra miles" when they shop at program partners.
There are about 200 thousand card holders as of June 2003.
Features
- Additional benefits from Turkish Airlines such as VIP &
vallet parking service in the airport
- Miles collected in Turkish Airlines' frequent flyer program
are combined with miles collected via shopping with Shop&Miles
credit card
