Credit Card User's Guide
While credit cards are used by millions of people to make payments every day, it's a fact that you can benefit even more from your card by using it the right way. With this in mind, we've prepared this "Credit Card User's Guide" for you.
The smart way to use your credit card.
- Never allow your credit card expenditures to add up to more than your total income.
- Don't use more than two or three credit cards: It becomes too complicated and difficult to keep track of and manage more than that.
- Never withdraw a cash advance on one card to pay off another card's debt.
- If you're ever unable to make a payment on your credit card when it's due, get in touch with your bank and discuss the matter in order to resolve the problem before it gets out of hand.
- When you've drawn more than one cash advance, first pay off the one with the highest rate of interest and/or the one whose interest accrues on a daily basis. Wherever possible, choose cash advance options that allow repayment on installment. Don't wait until your statement arrives to pay off cash advances.
- Because of the way interest is charged, your credit card is best used to pay for your immediate needs and only when necessary. Don't use your card to buy either expensive durable goods or services that are provided on a long-term basis. It's more economical to finance such purchases with a consumer loan than with your credit card.
- When you use your card's installment options to defer payment, think about the expenditures that you'll be making in the future as well.
- Printed account statements may be delayed in the mails. It's better to keep track of your credit card account by checking it from any Garanti ATM, from the Garanti Online Banking, or from Alo Garanti on 444 0 333 or by having e-mail/SMS statements sent to you.
