Garanti Gallery in Frankfurt and Venice
Becoming Istanbul
The exhibition entitled "Becoming Istanbul" will be held at the Deutsches Architekturmuseum DAM (German Architecture Museum, Frankfurt) with the collaboration of Garanti Gallery (GG, Istanbul) from 6 September to 9 November 2008. The exhibition, which is presented parallel to the 2008 Frankfurt Book Fair, at which Turkey is the guest of honour, is curated by Pelin Derviş, Bülent Tanju and Uğur Tanyeli, who are also the editors of the book produced along with the exhibition.
The database is presented to the use of the viewer via an interface designed specifically for the exhibition and contains more than 7000 visuals focusing on 80 concepts and brought together under 390 subgroups. In addition, a series of maps prepared for the exhibition aim to document Istanbul's place within the context of Turkey and the world under various headings.
Turbulent Topologies
On the occasion of the
11th International Architecture Exhibition, the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation - Venice, in collaboration with Garanti Gallery - Istanbul, is pleased to present "Turbulent Topologies", an exhibition of a work by Marcos Novak. The original "Turbulent Topologies" exhibition was commissioned by GG and was first shown in Istanbul in June and now it travels to the Palazzetto Tito. The exhibition curated by Pelin Derviş and Stefano Coletto will be held between 13 September - 16 November 2008.

Fibrous Room
"Fibrous Room" will be presented as part of ecoLogicStudio's exhibition entitled ecoMachines: "the making of artificial ecologies" at the 11th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice. Fibrous Room by Claudia Pasquero and Marco Poletto (ecoLogicStudio - London) and Nilüfer Kozikoğlu (Tuşpa - Istanbul) is an investigation into the formal/performative potentials of cement-based fibrous structures. The Fibrous Room installation was prepared for and held at Garanti Gallery in January 2008.
